A feed hopper takes raw product in bulk and delivers it to the line at a steady rate. A sorting belt is a belt on which the product is inspected by eye and spoiled or foreign pieces are removed by hand. These two units prepare the product at the start of the line.

How it works

Unloading
The product is poured into the hopper or unloaded from crates.
Metered feeding
The hopper delivers the product to the belt or elevator in a controlled flow.
Spreading
The belt carries the product forward in a thin layer, which makes visual inspection easier.
Sorting
Workers at the side of the belt remove spoiled and foreign pieces.
Hand-over
The product is handed over to the next machine (washing, sizing or peeling).
