A bulb breaking machine separates the garlic bulb into single cloves. In the processing line it is used before peeling, and in seed garlic preparation before planting. This work takes a long time by hand, but the machine does it evenly and quickly.

Reducing damage to the clove matters, because a damaged clove affects both product quality and seed germination. For this reason the separation is controlled, and settings are made according to the condition of the product.

How it works

Feeding
Garlic bulbs are fed to the machine from a hopper or an elevator.
Breaking the bulb
In machines of this type, the bulb is broken in a controlled way between soft-surfaced cylinders or similar mechanisms, and the cloves separate from each other.
Separation
Husk, roots and debris are separated from the cloves by an air stream or by screening.
Output
The separated cloves are carried by belt to the next machine.
Second pass
Bulbs that did not separate can be put through again as needed.
